IMD forecasts September rain below 91% after 16% August deficit

The India Meteorological Department said on Monday that India finished August with over 16 percent shortfall in normal rains for the month. It forecast less than 91 percent of normal rains for September. Seasonal rainfall between June and September could remain well below 90 percent. Till August, seasonal rainfall has been 84 percent of normal.
