Vijay swears in 23 ministers as Congress ends 59-year absence from Tamil Nadu power

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay expanded his cabinet on May 21, swearing in 23 legislators at Chennai's Lok Bhavan during a ceremony overseen by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. Two Congress MLAs, S. Rajesh Kumar from Killiyoor and P. Viswanathan from Melur, joined the TVK-led government, ending Congress's 59-year absence from state power in Tamil Nadu.
