Odisha floods affect eight lakh as CM tours villages

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on 17 August travelled by boat through inundated Jajpur panchayats and later walked waterlogged stretches to meet residents. A government statement said more than 8 lakh people have been affected since 13 August and 2.79 lakh evacuated. Over 82,000 people were in shelters. Flooding covered Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Kendrapara.
