Ladakh to get hill councils in all districts

The Hindustan Times reported that Ladakh will get Autonomous Hill Development Councils across all seven districts, extending elected local governance beyond Leh and Kargil under a proposed Union Territory-level body. Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra said the new structure would function under a customised version of Article 371, giving the region enhanced legislative, financial and administrative powers previously unavailable to it.
