SC stays order scrapping Karur stampede compassionate jobs

The Supreme Court on August 14 stayed a Madras High Court order that had quashed Tamil Nadu's decision to give government jobs to kin of those killed in the September 2025 Karur stampede. Justices J B Pardiwala and K Vinod Chandran issued notice to the chief secretary. The bench asked who the petitioner was to question employing a breadwinner's child.
