Jury orders Apple to pay Taction $5.7 billion

Livemint··27 Sept

A federal jury in California ordered Apple to pay more than $5.7 billion to Taction Technology over haptic patents used in iPhones and Apple Watches. Jurors found Apple's Taptic Engine infringed two Taction patents but did not find deliberate infringement. Apple said it disagrees with the verdict and will appeal. Taction sued in 2021 over patents Nos. 10,659,885 and 10,820,117.

What's Happening

  • Seven jurors deliberated two days after a trial that began on 14 September.
