Fertiliser subsidy bill may cross Rs 3 lakh crore

The Ministry of Fertilisers has sought full subsidy support estimated around Rs 3 lakh crore amid concerns that West Asia disruptions could raise global fertiliser prices. Budget 2026-27 had allocated Rs 1.71 lakh crore for fertiliser subsidy, but officials warned the requirement could rise sharply if international prices stay elevated.
