Allahabad HC orders ₹5 lakh pay for wrongful NSA detention

The Allahabad High Court ordered ₹5 lakh compensation for 25-year-old Delhi University graduate Akriti Chaudhary, whose five-month NSA detention it quashed on September 2. A bench called Gautam Buddha Nagar district magistrate Medha Roopam's conduct worthy of derision. The amount is to be recovered from the magistrate's salary. The court said civil servants' loyalty is to the Constitution.
