India ranks fifth in global military spending

India was the world’s fifth-largest military spender in 2025 with expenditure of $92.1 billion, according to SIPRI Yearbook 2026. The report said India’s spending rose 8.9 percent year-on-year. The US remained first at $954 billion, followed by China at $336 billion and Russia at $190 billion.
