JPC chief says frequent polls hurt education and economy

Joint Parliamentary Committee chairman PP Chaudhary on July 16 said stakeholders report that frequent elections adversely impact the economy, education and governance. If Parliament passes the Constitution 129th Amendment Bill with two-thirds majority, simultaneous Lok Sabha and state assembly elections could be held in 2029. The JPC is consulting stakeholders nationwide before finalising its report.
