India plans $11 billion Great Nicobar development

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government has cleared a transhipment port, airport, power plant, tourism zone, and township for about 350,000 people on Great Nicobar, Al Jazeera reported. The island sits near the Strait of Malacca, through which a large share of global trade and seaborne oil moves. Officials expect further briefings this week. More details may follow soon.
