Bengaluru is preparing to spend around ₹13,000 crore on 75 km of elevated corridors and flyovers. But the city’s core mobility problems are not simply a lack of road capacity. Bengaluru needs better public transport, last-mile connectivity, walkable streets, cycling infrastructure and coordinated urban planning. Before committing thousands of crores to flyovers, the government should publish the traffic modelling, alternatives considered, expected impact on congestion, and the independent expert assessment behind the decision. Citizens are asking for three things: Pause and review the project before construction moves ahead. Publish the evidence — traffic studies, cost-benefit analysis and alternatives. Prioritise public mobility — buses, metro connectivity, footpaths, cycling and last-mile transport. Bengaluru deserves infrastructure that moves people, not just more vehicles.
