ASML links executive pay to 73.5 percent engagement score
Livemint·
ASML chief Christophe Fouquet said staff feedback will help set bonuses and long-term rewards for top executives. A survey of more than 38,000 of about 44,000 employees showed engagement fell to 73.5 percent from 78 percent. Six questions will form a Workplace Experience Index for pay. In January ASML outlined plans that could cut 1,700 jobs, later expecting fewer cuts.

What It Means For You
- ASML has not said what share of executive pay will depend on the new workplace index.
- The index will ask about speaking up safely, trust in leaders, role clarity and teamwork.
- It will also ask whether managers care about employees as people, not only as workers.
What's Happening
- Fouquet's memo, reported by Business Insider, made rebuilding culture a personal priority.
- The pay link arrives as ASML tries to simplify structure and put more resources into engineering.
- Days before the memo, ASML raised its 2026 sales forecast and said it would speed production.
Why Morale Is Under Watch
- The company earlier said restructuring focused on reducing management layers.
- Livemint notes IBM and Aviva have previously tied executive pay to employee sentiment.
- ASML shares had climbed 45 percent this year, according to Business Insider figures cited in the report.
